Learning English starts from Kindergarten, while the second foreign language (French or German) is introduced to pupils in 3rd grade of Primary. After a placement test, pupils are split into groups, varying from beginners up to more advanced. Pupils follow an intensive curriculum. During the program the learning needs of the pupils are fully covered. With pupils often coming into contact with real communicative situations.
For this reason, special activities are organised, such as:

  • Theatrical performances with classical works in the original by foreign authors.
  • Pupils study foreign books and they present their content in front of their classmates.
  • Correspondence in a foreign language with children from abroad.
  • Group projects with social, cultural, ecological etc. topics and their presentation in front of an audience.
  • Organisation of lectures at school with notable guest speakers who develop issues and concerns relevant to the pupils’ interests.
  • Educational trips abroad organised by the Department of Foreign Languages.

The Department of Foreign Languages at “Rodion Paideia” school operates:

  • With objectives adjusted to the pupils’ age, needs and educational obligations.
  • With programs both designed and based on international standards which are flexible with regard to pace, character and content, so that pupils learn the foreign language and its two dimensions, the purely linguistic one and the social one, depending on their needs and capabilities.
  • With methods that are anchored to the basic principles of learning a foreign language, following the communication process through model-directed discovery
  • With various cultural and educational activities which help the pupils “meet the country”, whose language they learn, as well as understand both the cultural differences and possible similarities to their own country.

At “Rodion Pedia” pupils, familiarise themselves with foreign languages and acquire certificates that certify their level of knowledge.  These are useful skills for both the continuity of their studies and their professional fulfillment.
