Dionysios Spanopoulos was born in Athens and raised in Piraeus. His grandfather’s roots in Gennadi drew him to Rhodes from a young age, spending summers and holidays in the place he always wished to live.
He chose the Department of Primary Education at the University of the Aegean to pursue a field that he felt perfectly suited him, while living in the city he loved.
As a scholarship recipient from the "Onassis Foundation," he completed his postgraduate studies in "Educational Policy" at the Institute of Education at the University of London.
In the dreams he shared with his mother during childhood, and in conversations with friends and fellow university students, his desire to create a "school of his own"—a place of free expression, creativity, and innovation—was always at the forefront.
While studying in England, he learned about the establishment of a private school opening in Rhodes in September 2003. His dream became a reality as he became part of the vision for "our own school."
Dionysios has been an educator at the school since its first day of operation, and since 2004, he has served as the Director of the Primary School and the coordinator of the "Summer School" programs, shaping an educational environment rich in experiences and stimuli for their students. At the Primary School, all teachers strive to "build" experiences, "create" memories, "equip" with skills, and "mark" precious moments in an environment of safety, acceptance, and appreciation.
The school is a significant part of his extended family. He owes to the school his friendships with his closest friends and his relationship with Zoe—his life partner and the mother of Savvas and Irene.
Dionysios loves constant movement and travel while also tending to the roots in their "kipi" (garden), cultivating fruits enjoyed in gatherings with friends and flowering plants that make their life more beautiful.
